Levels 13-33: the early dungeons

Hall of Thanes (levels 13-18): the first new dungeon you can run, set in dwarven halls tied to Ironforge. A good first group experience for Alliance players in Dun Morogh and Loch Modan.

Ruins of Lordaeron (levels 15-20): set around Tirisfal and the ruined capital, with a story tied to the Forsaken. A natural first dungeon for Horde players starting in the north.

Excavation Site: Wetlands (levels 24-29 at announcement; the beta lists 26-31): a dig site in the Wetlands. It fits right into the 25-30 Wetlands leveling stretch.

City of Dalaran (levels 28-33): set in the Alterac region around the city of Dalaran. Beta testers have been able to run it since the October 8 build.

Levels 35-60: the later dungeons

The Drowned City (levels 35-40): tied to the naga and pirate threat along the Stranglethorn coast — a good break from the crowded Stranglethorn quest hubs.

Krol'dok Stronghold (around levels 40-45): a fortress dungeon for the early 40s, right around the time you get your first mount.

Alcaz Island Prison (levels 48-53): a prison on Alcaz Island off the coast of Dustwallow Marsh.

Blackmaw Hold (levels 55-60) and Shaper's Terrace (levels 58-60): the two highest new dungeons, aimed at the final stretch to 60 and early level-60 gearing.

The level 35-60 dungeons were not open on the beta at the time of writing, so their loot and encounters have not been tested publicly yet. Expect more details close to launch.

Loot and rewards

Every boss in the new dungeons drops blue-quality items, which is a big step up from Classic dungeons where many bosses dropped green or vendor-quality loot. Some bosses also drop new crafting recipes, which are likely to be valuable on the auction house in the first weeks.

Dungeon quests give generous experience, while repeat runs of the same dungeon give less. In practice, that means running each dungeon once or twice with the quests is great for leveling, and farming the same one over and over is better for loot than for experience.

Which new dungeon should you run first?

Alliance: start with Hall of Thanes in your teens, then Excavation Site: Wetlands in your mid-20s. Horde: start with the Ruins of Lordaeron, then City of Dalaran around 30.

If you are leveling as fast as possible, slot dungeons in when you already have the quests for them and a group ready. The 1-60 leveling guide shows where each dungeon fits into the zone route.

More dungeons coming after launch

Blizzard's roadmap points to more new dungeons after launch: two more planned for spring 2027 and two for summer 2027. We will update this guide as they are announced.
